INFORMATIONAL MEETING, 11 a.m. at the Kenbridge Community Center auditorium presented by Lunenburg County Chamber Commerce for the Christmas Community Concert to be held in December. AUGUST 27

HOMECOMING/REVIVAL at St. Louis Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House. The Rev. Henry L. Fleshman Jr., pastor of St. Louis, will deliver the message at 11 a.m. Dinner will follow. Revival services will be held Aug. 28-Sept. 1 with prayer and praise service at 7 p.m. There will be different choirs each night. Everyone is welcome.

NAZARENE CHURCH FAREWELL DINNER, for pastor and his wife, the Rev. Bob and Anita Larimore and family. The dinner will be held in the fellowship hall following the morning worship service. The Larimores will be moving to Indiana in the first part of September. They will be greatly missed in the church and community. All are welcome.

MISSIONARY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Gilfield Baptist Church, Kenbridge. Speaker will be Tracy Cole, of Chester, with the Silone Baptist Church choir.

SHOE SIZE RALLY, 4 p.m. at Pleasant Oak Baptist. The invited guests are 4 Ever Blessed, United for Christ and Men of Salvation.

FAMILY AND FARM DAY, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center located at 2375 Darvills Road in Blackstone. In a family atmosphere, have fun while learning about Virginia’s largest and oldest industry, agriculture. Test your navigating skills in the corn maze. Express your artistic abilities with seed art and pine cone bird feeders. See cows, chickens, alpacas, sheep, goats, owls and horses. Watch a cow being milked, milk a “no-kick” cow and see how bees make honey. Learn about aquaculture and catch a backyard bass. See what we make from peanuts, soybeans, corn, wheat and cotton. Watch a lumberjack demonstration. Admission is free and food may be purchased on the premises. For more information call (434) 292-5331.

CLASS REUNION, 6 p.m. of the Nottoway Senior High Class of 1977. Cocktails and dinner will be held at the Blackstone Herb Cottage. Cost is $35. Members may also attend the Nottoway High School home football game against Buckingham on Sept. 22. OCTOBER 7

OPPORTUNITY FUND SKEET CLASSIC, 8 a.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area. In just two years, 30 $1,000 scholarships have been given to students headed to college or a trade/technical school whose parents or guardians are served by SEC. The individual registration fee for the skeet shoot is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 50 participants, who must register in advance. The deadline to sign up is Saturday. Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who’d like to support this event. Sponsor returns include having a squad in the event, banners, signage and recognition in the event program.
