Central falls 26-21 to Buckingham after late rally

Central High School’s varsity football team led for much of the game Friday night, but host Buckingham County High School overcame a 14-point second-half deficit, scoring 19 unanswered points to win 26-21.
The Chargers entered this season with a largely young and inexperienced roster, but Head Coach Will Thomas refused to cite that as the reason for his team falling to 0-4 on the season Friday.
“We’re just not very good right now, making too many mistakes,” he said.
Thomas said Central did not play very well offensively, and though junior running back Dontae Crowder was able to score two touchdowns, the Chargers run game did not succeed on the level that it typically does.
Central led 21-7 at one point during the second half, and it held a 14-7 advantage at halftime after a long pass from junior quarterback Jackson Dalton to senior running back L.J. Watson for a touchdown was followed by a two-point conversion run.
The Chargers host Cumberland County High School (0-3) next Friday at 7 p.m.
