Supervisors in Lunenburg County took action on a potential solar facility that may be coming to the county as a result of a discussion held during a closed session Thursday.

Gee, who was appointed clerk of the county’s planning commission Thursday, confirmed that a solar facility is looking to locate in the county. She said once the appropriate application has been completed, information regarding the facility, its location and applicants would be available.

She said the solar facility is expected to be

classified as “agribusiness,” or an agricultural operation that uses advanced technology.

Gee said no other action was taken as a result of the closed session.

Members also voted in favor of holding a public hearing for a potential new location for Voting Precinct 501— Reedy Creek.

The location considered, according to county documents, is the Bethlehem Reformed Zion Union Apostolic Church (RZUA) on Reedy Creek Road.

The church’s restroom and kitchen facility would be more accommodating for staff on Election Day, Gee said during the Thursday meeting.

The location is accessible for those with disabilities and the church’s pastor has given consent for the voting site to be located there.

The potential change from the current voting location of the Lunenburg Tax Office would not be able to take place before the upcoming November election, Gee said, but would be in affect the following year.
