Piedmont Regional Jail operates ‘Creed Project’

The Piedmont Regional Jail partnered with FLIPP Inc. to host the second 40-hour training “The Creed Project” (Climate Resilience Energy Employment for the Disadvantaged). On February 26, 2024 through March 1, 2024 a total of (12) offender participants were trained for the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) PV (Photovoltaic) Associate credential. Those offenders who participated learned how to install and operate the solar panels. The certification creates pathways for employment in the solar energy industry.

Piedmont Regional Jail honored those who participated in the Creed Project by hosting a Ceremony of Completion. Keynote speaker during the ceremony was The Honorable Judge William “Bill” Watson. Shelly Mays-Couch, LOC Family Services founder, gave words of encouragement. Piedmont Jail Superintendent Jerry Townsend stated that the facility will continue to provide resources to aid in helping those offenders become productive law-abiding citizens and assist in reducing the recidivism rate.
