The fifteen chapters of the Ellinor G. Preston Coordinating Council of IOTA (Virginia) State, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, recently held their biennial Multi-Chapter Luncheon at the Swift Creek Mill Theater where “Behind the Scenes” was the theatrical theme for the occasion. Each chapter selected an honoree — a “shining star” — to be presented to the large number of members who attended from chapters in the council that covers territory from Fredericksburg through the Richmond metropolitan area and extends into Southern Virginia.
Betsy Rash Sheffield (of Victoria), who is the president of the Delta Alpha Chapter, was unanimously selected by her chapter members to be their honoree. Sheffield, who is in the second year of her two-year term, has worked tirelessly to inspire the chapter members and the community at large through various projects which won for her chapter “The Golden Key” recognition in 2014-15. She was a charter member of the chapter when it was organized 20 years ago.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society is an honorary organization for key women educators who are recognized by their peers as candidates for membership. Membership is offered by invitation. Delta Alpha members work and/or reside primarily in Lunenburg and Brunswick counties. For more information about the society, visit www.dkg.org. For questions about the chapter, contact Sheffield.
