Geminid, Meteor Shower watching at High Bridge

Published 2:52 pm Wednesday, December 9, 2015

The annual Geminid meteor shower peaks on Sunday night. Many meteor showers are best seen in predawn hours, but the Geminids often put on a spectacular show in the evening. The program will take place from 6-9 p.m.

Come out to High Bridge to view this spellbinding spectacle as Bruce and Karen Bellenir, members of our Park’s Friends Group, discuss the random streaks of light creating brilliant trails across the night sky.

The horizon to horizon view from the bridge provides the perfect viewing platform, but the wind can kick up as it blows through the valley so be sure to dress for the weather.

Arrive at the River Road parking area by 5:30 p.m. to allow for walking time to the bridge.

Don’t forget to bring water (or maybe hot chocolate) for refreshment as there is none available on the bridge. This program is free, but a parking fee of $4 per vehicle will apply to visitors parking at the River Road lot.
