After catching the University of Arizona softball’s YouTube posting “Know Your Wildcat,” it was easy to get to know Victoria’s Eva Watson.
Of course, if you’re from Lunenburg County, there’s a good chance you know Watson already.
She is the daughter of Richard and Melissa Watson.
An outfielder, Watson attended Kenston Forest High School where she was a four-year letter winner. She was team captain and MVP as a senior and was first-team all-state as a sophomore and junior and second-team as a freshman. Watson chose Arizona over James Madison, Alabama and Christopher Newport.
But the Jan. 28th posting about Watson, a junior, lasts just over two minutes and makes her known to the world as a series of short questions appear on the screen, and she answers them.
What is your major?
“Nutritional sciences … I kind of jumped around a lot of science majors, but I landed on that one because it’s a passion I have,” she explained;
What are your career plans after college?
Missionary work;
What made you chose Arizona?
Caitlin Lowe, the four-time All-American who played softball for the wildcats, she said. “Up till then … I didn’t realize college ball was an option,” she said. “I knew I wanted to come here after visiting for camp.”
There were other questions: Favorite Disney movie … Favorite uniform combo? … Best Memory at Arizona? … If you didn’t play softball, what sport would you play? … Do you have any special talents? …
Most embarrassing moment?
That was at New Mexico State. The coach and players were playing duck-duck-goose, and the coach ended up making Watson the goose. “The grass was wet,” she said. “I took off running; I slipped, he slipped … It’s on video.”
