The William Taylor Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has recognized Noah Nichols, of South Hill, as recipient of its “DAR Good Citizen” Award for 2016. Nichols, who is pictured with Chapter Regent Shelia Amos, left, and his mother, Diane Nichols, right, is a senior at Park View High School  where he has been active in extracurricular activities and cross country and track. At the March meeting of the local DAR chapter, he read his essay about the importance of freedom of religion as guaranteed in the U.S. Bill of Rights. Nichols also is a host and caterer at Brian’s Steak House. He plans to pursue further study in the hospitality field at Virginia Tech and has as his long-range goal to come back to the area as proprietor of his own restaurant.
