The Delta Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Kappa Society International welcomed a new member at its May meeting: Becky Rash Swoap, of Kenbridge. Swoap is the sister of Delta Alpha’s president, Betsy Sheffield.

Swoap has a bachelor’s degree from Emory and Henry, master’s from VCU and also a special education endorsement.

In Hanover County, she taught remedial reading, fifth-grade language arts, high school English and was both yearbook and newspaper sponsor. More recently, in Mecklenburg County, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year, she taught special education, reading and various math classes.
