The community gathered at the Meherrin Fire Department on Saturday to enjoy festivities and fireworks in honor of Independence Day. Those in attendance listened to bands play, watched an exciting fireworks show, took pictures of their kids in a bounce house and shopped at numerous vendors for clothing, food, toys and knick-knacks. Although the weather was hot, spectators huddled under trees for shade and reported they still had a great time at the annual event.
