A program for the economy

Imagine enrolling in a career training program that can change your life in weeks or months, compared to semesters or years.
Imagine being able to take the classes for a fraction of the normal cost.
Now imagine a wide variety of more affordable training programs are available across Virginia, and offered at times when working people can take advantage of the opportunity.
As you read this, a new state grant program is being rolled out to help about 10,000 Virginians gain more affordable access to training for jobs our employers are eager to fill.
I was proud to sponsor the “New Economy Workforce Credential Grant Fund and Program” in the Virginia Senate. I know the positive impact of this measure can be both immediate and long lasting.
We know affordability is key for students who seek training for a new career. Lawmakers voted to reduce student costs for specific workforce training programs to encourage more people to enroll and receive training for jobs in high demand.
Virginia’s community colleges are excited to participate in the program.
