The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in conjunction with the Feed More Central Virginia Food Bank, is initiating a monthly supplemental food program for low-income senior citizens (age 60 and older) in the area.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is designed to provide a monthly supplement of wholesome food to stretch the food dollars of low-income seniors who are vulnerable to malnutrition.
Seniors who have income below 130 percent of the poverty level are eligible for this program. For example, for a single person, this income level would be less than $297 per week or $15,444 per year.
