Moseley, Schwabenton celebrate anniversary

Miss Sydney Frances Schwabenton and Mr. Walter Brandon Moseley were united in marriage, on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at 5 p.m. in the afternoon. The occasion took place at Oakwood, Mrs. Moseley’s childhood home in Blackstone. The Rev. Dr. Peter Smith officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stockard Schwabenton of Blackstone. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. James Selden Harris, and Mr. Carl Burton Schwabenton, all formerly of Blackstone.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hill Moseley of Kenbridge. He is the grandson of Mrs. Carolyn Hill Moseley, of Broadnax, and the late Mr. Walter Bernard Moseley Jr., and Mrs. Frances Steed Bacon, of Kenbridge, previously of Meredithville, and the late John Richard Bacon III.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The ceremony was held on the grassy pasture, under a huge old oak tree at the back of the farm.

Music was performed by Ms. Treesa Gold, a violist. A scripture was read by Mr. Lee Alexander Schwabenton, brother of the bride.

Miss Anne Louise Schwabenton, of Richmond, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Allison Morgan Cheely, of Blackstone; Miss Anne Blair Wilkins, of Blackstone; Miss Jordan Ashley Spiers, of Kenbridge; Miss Katherine Frost Beale, of Madrid, Spain; Mrs. Dmitry Ragozin of Chicago, of Illinois; Miss Eirika Dawn Porter, of Burlington, North Carolina; Miss Elizabeth Lynn Yacovelli, of Morrisville, North Carolina; Miss Julia Wade Walker, of Farmville; Miss Kristin Ashley Buchanan, of Midlothian; and Mrs. Jacob Steed Bacon, of Dundas. Flower girls were Burkelee Evans Bedford, of Fairfax Station, Schuyler Rae Green and Walker Gray Green, both of Blackstone.

Mr. Walter Hill Moseley served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Robert Carol Moseley, brother of the groom, of Kenbridge; Mr. William Stuart Ford, of LaCrosse; Mr. Ryan Patrick Nash, of Crewe; Mr. Richard Allen Nash, of South Hill; Mr. Justin Davis Shanks, of Millboro Springs; Mr. Charles Harold Parrish III, of Dundas; Mr. Zachary DeMond Collins, of Lewisburg, West Virginia; Mr. Matthew Wallace Hamilton, of Staunton; Mr. Jacob Steed Bacon, of Dundas; and Mr. Samuel Clinton Thomas, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Nottoway River Country Club in Blackstone. The bride’s parents hosted a dinner and reception at their home, Oakwood, immediately after the ceremony. The guests were entertained with music and dancing by the band, Alternative Groove.

Following a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple resides in Brodnax.
