The Kenston Forest School varsity girls basketball team ensured it would end 2016 on a positive note by defeating visiting Temple Christian School 45-37 on Thursday evening.
The Lady Kavaliers were missing two key players, senior Savannah Gunn and junior Josie Epperson, but junior Indigo Dougherty was on hand unlike the first time Kenston Forest faced Temple Christian this season.
Dougherty led her team with 20 points.
Senior Mackenzie Coley contributed 14 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists, and sophomore point guard Emily Hawthorne, filling in for Gunn, produced five points, seven assists, seven steals and two rebounds.
“We came out in the third quarter and outscored them 23-12, so we had a great third quarter,” Lady Kavs Head Coach Jannon Coley said.
Kenston Forest (7-3) hosts Richmond Christian School on Friday with tipoff set for 6 p.m.
