Lady Chargers commended

Central High School’s varsity softball team made a good showing at last month’s Region 1A East tournament semifinals, making it further than they did last season.
According to Lady Chargers Head Coach Karen McGrath, it was somewhat surprising that they even made it to the semifinals given their early losses.
While the season’s final outcome may have been disappointing for the Lady Chargers and not what they had hoped for, by pulling together they finished the season with a very respectable 15-8 record.
Congratulations to Hailey Bayne who made the All-Conference 42 first team as a pitcher, to Turman-Watson who made the cut as an outfielder and senior Kayla Anthony who was selected as a utility player.
Congratulations also go out to junior outfielder Kaylee Williams, sophomore third baseman Emma Hart and shortstop Sorie Scott who made the second team.
The lessons learned on the field this season brought them to the semifinals and my hope is that they think of these lessons and the many victories along the way when they look back on the 2017 season. Coach McGrath and the entire team should be commended.
Great season, ladies!
