Members of the Lunenburg County School Board discussed an upcoming superintendent evaluation workshop and school board training that they are set to attend during a special called meeting Feb. 5.
The workshop and training will be held by the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA), division Superintendent Charles Berkley noted.
Berkley said he and Meherrin River District Representative Amy McClure would be attending the workshop Feb. 22 in Charlottesville.
Beaver Creek District Representative Beverley Hawthorne said the workshop comes after changes that had taken place in the VSBA’s evaluation process.
Hawthorne said the evaluation method for the superintendent changed a few years ago.
“There have been some more updates,” McClure said about the workshop.
McClure also noted additional training for members of the school board that would be held by the VSBA. The original training date suggested by members of the school board was for June 15. McClure said the VSBA responded that June 15 would not work and suggested June 19, June 20 and June 22 as potential alternatives.
“This is additional training that our board has to go to as a group, and it’s offered by the school board association,” Hawthorne said.
Hawthorne said that members of the board had participated last year in the training program and were set to participate again this year.
