Central High School Principal John Long has resigned, Lunenburg County Public Schools (LCPS) administration announced Tuesday.
Dr. Sharon Stanislas, Lunenburg Middle School Principal, was appointed Monday as principal of Central High School to succeed Long.
Lunenburg County Public Schools Superintendent Charles Berkley confirmed Long’s resignation, and said Long has received a position with the Virginia Department of Corrections in the Hampton Roads area.
“He will be Principal of the School with Department of Corrections at Indian Creek Correctional Center,” Berkley said Tuesday.
Berkley said Long resigned at an earlier date, but the resignation had not been official until Monday’s School Board meeting.
Long has been principal of Central High School for three years. Previously, he served as principal of Kenbridge Elementary School and assistant principal of Lunenburg Middle School.
Stanislas has been principal of Lunenburg Middle School since 2015 and was previously a counselor for the school division.
The Dispatch reached out to Long and Stanislas for comment but did not receive by press time.
