A former tobacco warehouse located at 400 W. Sixth Ave. in the Town of Kenbridge is seeing demolition.
The warehouse, listed on the Lunenburg County geographic information system (GIS), cites R.R. Gunn as the owner of the property and that the building was a tobacco warehouse.
The current valuation of the land and building, according to the GIS system, is $30,000 and $3,000 respectively.
Kenbridge Town Manager Robyn Fowler said the town had reached out to the contact for the property concerning the condition of the blighted property. Town crews are not demolishing the warehouse, Fowler said.
Fowler said the town recently served three property owners warrants in debts under the new town codes for blighted properties.
“This is after sending them notices of violations and repairs are not completed after 45 days of receipt of violation,” Fowler said.
The hearings are currently active. Hearings for property owners Kelly Chaney, Robin Wrenn and Roosevelt Capers Jr. are scheduled through the month of January, according to court records.
