Lunenburg County voters will have the chance to cast their ballot for the Republican Party’s choice for the 15 District Senate seat.
The primary election is set for Tuesday, June 11.
Primary elections are meant to narrow the choices for a particular elected position or political party prior to the November election.
Lunenburg County Registrar Carolyn Parsons said that the candidates up for election are incumbent state senator Frank M. Ruff Jr. and candidate Dale L. Sturdifen.
Parsons said residents can vote at their respective voting precincts. These include:
The Victoria Fire & Rescue building, 1421 Main St. for the Plymouth District; Kenbridge Town Hall, 511 E. Fifth St. for the Brown’s Store District;
Rosebud Baptist Church at 249 Gigg Road and Flat Rock Baptist Church at 2993 Brickland Road for the Beavers Creek District;
Arrowhead Gun Club at 834 Arrowhead Road and Pleansant Grove Tussekiah Baptist Church at 3514 Crymes Road for the Rehoboth District;

According to Parsons, Virginia law requires voters to show an acceptable photo ID when voting in person. Voters without a photo ID can receive a free Virginia voter photo ID from any local voter registration office.
Residents will also have the opportunity to vote during the November election. Parsons said the Board of Supervisors seats up for election include the Brown’s Store District, Rehoboth District, Love’s Mill District and Hound’s Creek District.
The Brown’s Store District, Rehoboth District, Love’s Mill District and Hound’s Creek District school board seats will also be up for election.
Constitutional officers including the sheriff, treasurer, commissioner of the revenue and commonwealth’s attorney are up for election.
