The 2019 season came to a close May 28 for Central High School’s varsity baseball team after the squad took on visiting Stonewall Jackson High School, of Quicksburg, in the Region 1B tournament first round.
The No. 4 Chargers’ offense came to play, but Central was ultimately unable to contain the No. 5 Generals’ offense, losing 13-10.
The Chargers finished the year with an overall record of 8-13.
Their best stretch of the year came April 25-May 15 when they won five of eight games.
Central will be in good position to build on this season next year as the team will lose only one player due to graduation — pitcher/outfielder Jackson Dalton.
If all of this year’s juniors return, the 2020 Chargers roster will feature as many as seven seniors.
