Paving and maintenance projects in the Town of Victoria finished at the end of last week, according to Town Manager Rodney Newton.
Newton said on Thursday that most of the streets in Victoria are maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). There are a few streets however, Newton said, that the town is responsible for maintaining.
“We have had a contractor in town paving the perimeter roads in Lakeview Cemetery, Hunter Road (which is across from the STEPS Headstart building), and the alley between Seventh Street and Eighth Street that serves many of our businesses on that side of Main Street,” Newton said.
“With the work in Lakeview Cemetery, Town of Victoria Public works spent several days replacing or installing new drain pipes, removing crumbling paving and widening a turn in the cemetery,” Newton continued.
The cost for the entire paving project totaled approximately $40,000, Newton said.
He estimated that the work would be completed at the end of last week.
