Reader Janet Herkert, of Victoria, submitted this photo of a rose in her garden. She said she planted a red rose bush and a pink rose bush within a few feet of one another about three years ago. Herkert wondered if the plants’ close proximity caused one side of the rose to be pink and the other side to be red.
