Are you concerned about your safety? A series of three monthly community programs – Observe/Access/React Seminars – will help you to be safe in your surroundings. Entitled “Be Safe! Use O.A.R.S,” these free seminars are sponsored by Turning Point Healing Retreat Center and Lunenburg Sheriff Arthur Townsend. All three programs will take place in the auditorium at the Kenbridge Community Center, at 511 East Fifth Ave., with the first starting Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Each of the three programs will cover a different set of safety issues. Attendees may come to one or all three. The more seminars that you attend, the more you will know about how to protect yourself.

The first seminar will take place Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. The program will help you to observe, assess and react successfully (O.A.R.S.) to your surroundings in order to stay safe. Emphasis will be upon developing a plan of action for yourself, your church, your club, your family.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6:30 p.m., the seminar’s emphasis will be on scams, spoofing, phishing and more. You will receive ideas on how to evade these predators.

The third and final seminar will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m. This program will emphasize personal safety awareness and how to develop a safe home in order to protect yourself.

Printed notes will be available at each of the programs for you to take with you. It is suggested that you bring a writing implement if you want to take additional notes.
