Central High School’s varsity football team rebounded in a big way from its lopsided loss last week to host Buckingham County High School. The Chargers rode the momentum of a huge second quarter Friday night on their way to a 47-0 rout of visiting Cumberland County High School.
The game was close on the scoreboard after one quarter, with the Dukes trailing only 6-0, but Central exploded for 34 points in the second period to take a 40-0 halftime lead.
The Chargers (2-3) visit Randolph-Henry High School (0-5) next Friday at 7 p.m. for the Statesmen homecoming game.
