Kavs continue winning ways on gridiron, court

Kenston Forest School’s varsity football and varsity girls volleyball teams recorded winning records last week, with the football squad winning its homecoming game 55-30 against visiting Southampton Academy on Friday and the girls volleyball squad going 2-1 for the week.
The Kavaliers’ win on the gridiron took their overall record on the season to 6-2.
Their offensive leaders included Quinton Hawkins, with 132 yards rushing and a touchdown, Jah’Tavious Houston, with 143 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and Moe’Wuante Morrison, with 77 yards rushing. Trey Lewis found the end zone three times — two on offensive runs and one on a 40-yard return after recovery of a fumble.
On the defensive side of the ball, Ronique Capers tallied 10 tackles and an interception, Thomas Inge had eight tackles, and Ryan Whitehead added seven tackles.
The Kavs host Greenbrier Christian Academy (5-3) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Kenston Forest’s varsity girls volleyball team topped host Tidewater Academy 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 10, after winning a thriller, 3-2, against visiting Southampton on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The day prior, the Lady Kavaliers fell 3-1 to host Central Virginia Home School in Richmond.
The Lady Kavs entered this week with a 14-6 overall record, including a 9-0 mark in the Virginia Colonial Conference.
