William Lawrence Winn, son of Lucius and Pauline Coleman Winn was born June 1, 1944. On March 1, Lawrence quietly entered eternal rest at his home surrounded by family.
Lawrence received his education in Lunenburg County School system. He worked at Don Stan Construction and Huey Spigner Refuge in Stanford, Connecticut for over 20 years.
Later years he returned to his roots in Virginia. Lawrence was gainfully employed with Barkley Construction where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator until he retired after 28 years.
In 1961, William Lawrence Winn and Pattie Mae Meredith were wedded in holy matrimony. To this union six children were born. Lawrence is preceded in death by his two daughters, Patricia Ann Winn McMiller and Shirley Delores Winn; one son, Darnell Winn; two brothers, Lucius Jr. and Michael Winn; one sister, Phyllis Winn Jones; his parents, Lucius and Pauline Coleman Winn; brother-in-law, Lindsey Derricott and sister-in-law Jerlene M. Winn.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Pattie Mae; three sons, Lawrence Laurel (Sandra), Wilbur Bernard and Anthony Lionel (Thomasina); one daughter, Nina Baskerville Bridgeforth (Calvin); siblings, Hazel Stokes (Henry), Howard Winn, Roy (Josie) Winn, Dorothy Freeman (Linwood), Larry (Nancy) Winn, Carlize (Madlyn) Winn and Darlene Derricott; seven granddaughters; three grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Tommie) Graves, Estelle (Floyd) Johnson, Penny (Donnell) Capers, brother-in-laws; Bill (Clara) Meredith, Lloyd Meredith, James (Doris) Meredith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear longtime friends and hanging buddy, Fuzzy Minor, and Bernard Simmons.
Memorial Service was held on Friday, March 8.
S.P. Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
