JULY 6

FARMERS MARKET OPEN — The Kenbridge Farmers Market is open now for the 2024 season, running from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, July 6. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center.

JULY 7

GUEST MINISTER — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, will have a guest minister for services on Sunday, July 7. Rev. Jimmy Dews from South Hill will deliver the message in the 11 a.m. service.

MORNING WORSHIP — Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, July 7, with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom will begin a new sermon series entitled “Filling Your Cup”. This week’s sermon title is called “May the Force Be With You.”

GUEST SPEAKER — Matthew Kelly will deliver the message at the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, July 7 at the Victoria Christian Church. In addition to traveling as an evangelist and performing with the gospel bluegrass quartet “First Go ‘Round”, Kelly manages IT needs at Kenston Forest School.

JULY 8 – 12

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL — Kenbridge United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 to 15 from July 8 to July 12. Running each night from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., the theme this year is “Camp Firelight-A Summer Camp Adventure with God.” There will be dinner, music, crafts, recreation, a mission project and memorable Bible stories to show children they can trust God.

JULY 13

JULY 14

HOMECOMING — Bethlehem R.Z.U.A. Church, located at 2455 Reedy Creek Road in Lunenburg, will hold homecoming on Sunday, July 14. The message will be delivered by Rev. Ray Smith, pastor of Unity and Starlight Baptist Church in Kenbridge.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY — Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, located at 3606 Kenbridge Road, will hold the 119th anniversary of the Missionary Ministry on Sunday, July 14, beginning at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Geraldine Seward from the Rosebud Baptist Church in Dundas. All visiting missionaries are asked to wear white with a choice of gold accessories.

HOMECOMING — West Hill Baptist Church, located at 10349 Oral Oaks Road in Victoria, will hold its annual homecoming and rally service on Sunday, July 14, beginning at noon. The guest preacher will be Rev. Melissa Hymon.

JULY 20

MEDITATION AT THE LIBRARY — The Meditation for Busy People class will meet on Saturday, July 20 at the Victoria Library, located at 1517 7th Street. It will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Attendees will learn several simple research-based meditation practices to improve overall wellness that easily fit into a busy schedule. CHURCH SERVICES — New Grove Baptist Church is open for in-person morning worship and teleconferences on the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. In-person Sunday School will be held every week at 10 a.m. The call-in telephone number is 301-715-8592. CHURCH SERVICES — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, has re-opened its church doors for in-person and teleconference services. These will be held every first and third Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m.

CHURCH SERVICES — Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 127 Oak Grove Road, holds worship services on each first and third Sunday at 11:30 a.m. under the leadership of Rev. Boris Bullock.

VFW MEETINGS — The VFW and VFW Auxiliary meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at VFW Post No. 9954 in Victoria. The members of the VFW and the Auxiliary share a dinner at 6:15 p.m. prior to the meeting.

LUNENBURG REPUBLICANS — The Lunenburg Republicans meet the first Tuesday of each month at the La Victoria Mexican Restaurant in Lunenburg at 6 p.m.

BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH — Bethany Baptist Church located at 5968 Plank Road in Kenbridge holds in-person services at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays. Sunday School is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Bring your Bible. Face masks are optional and social distancing will be practiced.
