JULY 8 – 12

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL — Kenbridge United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 to 15 from July 8 to July 12. Running each night from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., the theme this year is “Camp Firelight-A Summer Camp Adventure with God.” There will be dinner, music, crafts, recreation, a mission project and memorable Bible stories to show children they can trust God.

JULY 13

FARMERS MARKET OPEN — The Kenbridge Farmers Market is open now for the 2024 season, running from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, July 13. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center.

JULY JUBILEE — The Kenbridge Town Park will be the host for this year’s July Jubilee. The event will be held on Saturday, July 13, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with food, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, a bouncy house, a soccer tournament, a parade and a number of vendors.

FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host country musician Nick Byrd on Saturday, July 13, beginning at 7 p.m.

JULY 14

MORNING WORSHIP — Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, July 14, with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom will continue his sermon series entitled “Filling Your Cup”. This week’s sermon title is called “Mercy Came a Running.”

HOMECOMING — Monroe Baptist Church will hold its annual homecoming on Sunday, July 14, during the 11 a.m. service. Rev. James Hurt Jr., pastor of the First Rock Baptist Church in Prospect will deliver the morning message, with lunch after the service.

HOMECOMING — Bethlehem R.Z.U.A. Church, located at 2455 Reedy Creek Road in Lunenburg, will hold homecoming on Sunday, July 14. The message will be delivered by Rev. Ray Smith, pastor of Unity and Starlight Baptist Church in Kenbridge.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY — Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, located at 3606 Kenbridge Road, will hold the 119th anniversary of the Missionary Ministry on Sunday, July 14, beginning at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Geraldine Seward from the Rosebud Baptist Church in Dundas. All visiting missionaries are asked to wear white with a choice of gold accessories.

HOMECOMING — West Hill Baptist Church, located at 10349 Oral Oaks Road in Victoria, will hold its annual homecoming and rally service on Sunday, July 14, beginning at noon. The guest preacher will be Rev. Melissa Hymon.

JULY 19

FOOD PANTRY DISTRIBUTION — Victoria Church of the Nazarene will hold a food distribution on a first come, first serve basis on Friday, July 19, beginning at 10 a.m. The church is located at 1404 6th Street in Victoria.

REVIVAL — Monroe Baptist Church will hold a one-night revival on Friday, July 19. Prayer and praise will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Rev. C.L. Hobbs of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Kenbridge delivering the message at the 8 p.m. worship service. He will be accompanied by his deacons, ushers and choir.

JULY 20

FARMERS MARKET OPEN — The Kenbridge Farmers Market is open now for the 2024 season, running from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, July 20. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center.

MEDITATION AT THE LIBRARY — The Meditation for Busy People class will meet on Saturday, July 20 at the Victoria Library, located at 1517 7th Street. It will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Attendees will learn several simple research-based meditation practices to improve overall wellness that easily fit into a busy schedule. FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host bluegrass group Silver Strings on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 7 p.m.

JULY 21

GUEST MINISTER — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, will have a guest minister for services on Sunday, July 21. Rev. Jimmy Dews from South Hill will deliver the message in the 11 a.m. service.

JULY 27

FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host saxophone player Michael Redman on Saturday, July 27, beginning at 7 p.m.

AUGUST 3

SCHOOL GIVEAWAY — Victoria Church of the Nazarene will hold a school backpacks and supplies giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 3. This begins at 10 a.m. and will be on a first come, first serve basis. The church is located at 1404 6th Street in Victoria.

AUGUST 4

FAMILY REUNION — The Wallace/Overton/Ashworth Family Reunion covered dish meal will be held at VFW Post #9954 in Victoria. That’ll take place on Saturday, Aug. 4, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
