Jacob Ray Lewis, 77 of Victoria, joined his family in Heaven on Dec. 12. He was the father of the late Edwin Ray “Eddie” Lewis and was a son of the late Jacob and Estelle Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Vaughan Lewis of Victoria; his daughter, Tammy L. Joyce (Dan) of Jamestown, North Carolina; three granddaughters, Chelsea Pifer (Aaron), Cassie Joyce and Shelby Joyce (Jie); two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Pifer and Sebastian Pifer; three brothers, Luther, John (Barbara) and Bill (Carla); two sisters, Katherine Poole and Nancy Lewis all of Appomattox; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ray grew up in Appomattox and graduated from Appomattox High School. He served our country in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a commercial lithographer. He enjoyed farming and deer hunting. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit; he was always humble and kind. He dearly loved his family and the time spent with them.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Victoria Christian Church. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the Victoria Christian Church or Victoria Fire and Rescue.
