One Lunenburg County resident is dead and the Virginia State Police have opened an investigation into a traffic accident that happened Thursday, Feb. 6. At 7:54 a.m., State Police troopers were called out to the soundbound side of Route 49, about a half mile south of Route 645 or W. Courthouse Road in Nottoway County. 

According to the State Police, a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by 19-year-old Christopher Morales-Illescas of Victoria, ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Morales-Illescas succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. This crash remains under investigation.
