MARCH 22

FREEDOM FUND BANQUET – The Lunenburg County NAACP will hold its annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, March 22, beginning at 3 p.m. This will be held at the Peoples Community Center, located at 1021 Tidewater Avenue. The guest speaker will be Dr. Sharon Stanislas, Superintendent of Lunenburg County Public Schools. The Central High Jazz Band will deliver the music. 

MARCH 23

MORNING WORSHIP – Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, March 23. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m., with worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom continues his sermon series “I Love You to Death (Journey to the Cross)”.

MISSIONARY ANNIVERSARY – New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, will hold their 25th Missionary Anniversary on March 23, starting at 3 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Aileen Moorman, associate pastor of St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Kenbridge.  

PRAISE TEAM ANNIVERSARY – New Bethel Baptist Church ‘Devotion in Motion’ Praise Dance Ministry Team will celebrate their sixth anniversary on Sunday, March 23, beginning at 3 p.m. There will be guest praise dancers and a guest choir in attendance. The church is located at 14167 Farmville Road in Meherrin.

CONSERVATION MEETING – The Piedmont Soil & Water Conservation District Education Committee will meet on Monday, March 24, starting at 10:30 a.m. That’ll be at the Prince Edward County Agriculture building, located at 100 Dominion Drive in Farmville. 

MARCH 25

LADIES BIBLE STUDY – Kenbridge Christian Church, located at 519 S. Broad Street, will hold a Ladies Bible Study on Tuesday, March 25. That’ll take place from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with the group studying 1, 2 and 3rd John.

DIRECTORS MEETING – The Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, March 25, starting at 11 a.m. That’ll be held at the Prince Edward County Agriculture building, located at 100 Dominion Drive in Farmville.

SIP & STAMP – The Rosewood will host a ‘Sip & Stamp’ program on Thursday, March 27, where residents can create a free hand-stamped card while enjoying drinks. The Rosewood is located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg.

COMMUNITY THEATRE – The Southside Area Community Theatre will perform ‘Kitchen Witches’ at the Kenbridge Auditorium on Friday, March 28. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $15. The auditorium is located at 511 E. 5th Avenue in Kenbridge. You can buy tickets at sacttheater.com.

MARCH 29 

COMMUNITY DINNER – There will be a free community dinner at St. Paul and St. Andrew Episcopal Church, located at 512 South Broad Street in Kenbridge. That’ll take place on Saturday, March 29, with eat-in serving from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and take-out serving from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

VFW BANQUET – The annual VFW and VFW Auxiliary #9954 Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 29 at the Post Home. Social hour is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the banquet starting at 6 p.m., followed by the program. All members and one guest per member are welcome. Members need to reserve a meal by contacting the VFW quartermaster at topharvester@centurylink.net or by calling the VFW Auxiliary Secretary at 434-480-0201.

INSTALLATION SERVICE – New Grove Baptist Church, located at 32 New Grove Road in Kenbridge, will hold the installation service of pastor-elect Rev. Dr. Jimmy Dews on Sunday, March 30, starting at 3 p.m. Rev. Dr. James Walker, pastor of Hickory Run Baptist Church in Rawlings, will deliver the message. 

MAY 3 

FARMERS MARKET — The Kenbridge Farmers Market will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 3. That’ll take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center. 

SPRING FLING – The Town of Kenbridge will hold its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, May 3 at the Kenbridge Recreation Center. That’ll run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with baked goods and treats, as well as spring decorations and other gifts for sale. For more information, call Suzie Austin, Event Coordinator, at 434-676-2452.

CHURCH SERVICES – Victoria Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 1419 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services each Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

CHURCH SERVICES – New Grove Baptist Church is open for in-person morning worship and teleconferences on the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. In-person Sunday School will be held every week at 10 a.m. The call-in telephone number is 301-715-8592. CHURCH SERVICES — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, has re-opened its church doors for in-person and teleconference services. These will be held every first and third Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. 

CHURCH SERVICES – Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 127 Oak Grove Road, holds worship services on each first and third Sunday at 11:30 a.m. under the leadership of Rev. Boris Bullock. 

VFW MEETINGS — The VFW and VFW Auxiliary meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at VFW Post No. 9954 in Victoria. The members of the VFW and the Auxiliary share a dinner at 6:15 p.m. prior to the meeting.

LUNENBURG REPUBLICANS — The Lunenburg Republicans meet the first Tuesday of each month at the La Victoria Mexican Restaurant in Lunenburg at 6 p.m.

BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH — Bethany Baptist Church located at 5968 Plank Road in Kenbridge holds in-person services at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays. Sunday School is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Bring your Bible. Face masks are optional and social distancing will be practiced.

ROSEBUD BAPTIST CHURCH — Rosebud Baptist Church has re-opened for in-person and teleconference worship services  at 11 a.m. every first and third Sunday. The church is located at 249 Gigg Road in Dundas.

KENBRIDGE CHRISTIAN CHURCH — Kenbridge Christian Church holds one service at 10 a.m. and offers it as a drive-in service, an inside service and online service all hosted by Pastor Cameron Bailey. The drive-in worship is held in the church parking lot. The church is located at 519 S. Broad St., in Kenbridge.

THRIFTS CHAPEL CHURCH — Services at Thrifts Chapel Church are now open with live string music and singing by the Poorhouse Boys and preaching by Eric Potter. Services begin at 10 a.m. each Sunday.
