With great sorrow but deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Betty Tanner Willis Schumaker at the age of 92 on March 19. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise Tanner; brother, Robert “Bobby” Tanner Jr.; sister, Carolyn Seamster; husbands, David Willis and Charlie Schumaker; son, Robert “Jeep” Willis; stepson, Chuck Schumaker and sons-in-law, Jesse Driggs and “Buddy” Watson.
She is survived by her children, Janet Watson, Sharon Driggs, Jay Willis (Linda), Jeff Willis (Fran) and Karen Schumaker, and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of faith and love. Her unwavering kindness and gentle spirit touched many lives. Her loss is a reminder that life is fleeting, but her cherished memory will never fade.
Betty’s family wishes to thank Amelia Rehabilitation and Healthcare and James River Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
The family received friends Friday, March 21, at the Victoria Baptist Church from 2 p.m. until the start of services at 3 p.m. Interment followed at the Lakeview Cemetery in Victoria. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Victoria Baptist Church, Lunenburg Health Service or the Christmas Resident Fund at Amelia Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
