It’s going to take a few months before all of Plank Road is reopened for traffic. Officials from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) closed parts of the road Monday morning, in order to start some bridge repair work. The section between Route 635 (Oral Oaks Road) and Route 643 (New Grove Road) is what got shut down. VDOT officials say if all goes according to plan, the bridge repairs should be finished by early July. 

In the meantime, two detours have been set up. For westbound traffic, head east to Route 635, then north to Route 643, then head south back onto Route 655. For eastbound traffic, head west to Route 643, then north to Route 653 and finally south to Route 655.
