The Easter edition of the Community Events calendar is published, just like every other week, on Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@KVDispatch.com
APRIL 17
REVIVAL – Bluestone Baptist Church, located at 8708 Trottinridge Road in Skipwith, will hold revival services on Thursday, April 17, starting at 6 p.m. Rev. Cornelius Ogburn will deliver the message, with music from the Amity Baptist Church family.
APRIL 18
CATFISH & SHRIMP FEST – Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold its Catfish and Shrimp Fest fundraiser on Friday, April 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Drive through and dine-in options are available for fried catfish, fried shrimp, baked beans, cole slaw, hush puppies, dessert and water for $18 per plate. Dinners will be available by preorder only, which must be placed by April 15 by calling 434-689-2739, 434-689-2661 or 434-689-2631 before 10 p.m. The firehouse is located at 1697 Palmer Springs Road, the intersection of Palmer Springs Road, Rough Road and Mineral Springs Road.
MUSIC IN THE PARK – Music in the Park returns to Victoria for another season. This season kicks off with a performance on Friday, April 18. That’ll run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Railroad Park, featuring music by Guy Grant and The Wings of Mercy. Pippy’s Doghouse food truck will be there, along with Get Silly Lemonade. The event is free.
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE – Kenbridge United Methodist Church, located at 201 E. 5th Avenue in Kenbridge, will hold a Good Friday service of Meditation based on the Last Seven Words of Jesus. That’ll take place on Friday, April 18, starting at 7 p.m.

MEDITATION AT THE LIBRARY – The Meditation for Busy People class will meet on Saturday, April 19 at the Victoria Library, located at 1517 7th Street. It will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Attendees will experience research-based meditation practices for relaxation & wellness of body, mind, emotions, & spirit, which easily fit into a busy schedule. Beginners are welcome. Call or text Angie Tharpe at 434-447-9465 for more information. This is a free class.
EASTER EGG HUNT – The Town of Victoria will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19. This marks the 22nd time the event has been held, run by the Victoria Town Office and the Klassy Divas Social Club. It starts at 10 a.m. at the Railroad Park, with three age groups searching for prize eggs.
CRUISE-IN – The Heart of Virginia Classic Auto Club will hold its first cruise-in on Saturday, April 19, at the parking lot by Tractor Supply in Farmville. That will run from 5 p.m. until dusk. Bring your classic or antique to show or just drop by and check them out. There will be a 50/50 raffle held as well.
OPEN MIC NIGHT – The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will hold open mic night on Saturday, April 19. Beginning at 6 p.m., musicians, stand-up comedians and other performers are welcome to try their act in front of a crowd.
APRIL 20
SUNRISE SERVICE – Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, located at 102 Aiken Road in Victoria, will hold multiple services on Easter morning. Attendees are asked to meet up at the intersection of K-V and Ashton roads at 5:30 a.m. for the carrying of the cross. Then at 6 a.m., the Sunrise Service will begin at the church.
SUNRISE SERVICE – Kenbridge United Methodist Church will hold Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 20. That’ll be held at 262 Southview Farm Road in Kenbridge, starting at 6:30 a.m. It’ll be followed by breakfast and an Easter Celebration service at 11 a.m. at the church’s 201 E. 5th Avenue location.
SUNRISE SERVICE – Victoria Christian Church will hold its annual Sunrise Service, a century-old tradition, on Easter Sunday. That’ll take place Sunday, April 20, starting at 6:30 a.m. Interim Pastor Michael Lacks will deliver the message, followed by a light breakfast and time of fellowship. The church is located at 2100 Lee Avenue in Victoria.
SUNRISE SERVICE – Kenbridge United Methodist Church, located at 262 Southview Farm Road in Kenbridge, will hold Easter sunrise service starting at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 20. Following the service, breakfast will be served.
EASTER WORSHIP – Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold Easter worship services on Sunday, April 20. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m., with worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom continues his sermon series “I Love You to Death (Journey to the Cross)”.
APRIL 26
COMMUNITY DINNER – There will be a free community dinner on Saturday, April 26 at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew. That’s located at 512 South Broad Street in Kenbridge. The meal will be served in the parish hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with takeout meals available from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
MAY 3
FARMERS MARKET — The Kenbridge Farmers Market will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 3. That’ll take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center.
SPRING FLING – The Town of Kenbridge will hold its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, May 3 at the Kenbridge Recreation Center. That’ll run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with baked goods and treats, as well as spring decorations and other gifts for sale. For more information, call Suzie Austin, Event Coordinator, at 434-676-2452.
HIGH SCHOOL REUNION – The Victoria High School annual reunion will be held on Saturday, May 3, starting at noon. That’ll take place at Central High School of Lunenburg in Victoria. The price will be $20, payable at the door. Note that the location and price have changed. Also, no advanced reservations are required. Dress is casual. Any questions?
