Spring Fling is coming up this weekend, as is the Kenbridge Farmers Market. If you have an event like the Spring Fling to share, the calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@KVDispatch.com

APRIL 30 

VICTORIA MEETING – The Victoria Planning Commission will hold their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 30, starting at 10 a.m. This will be held at the Victoria Municipal Building, located at 1809 Main Street in Victoria. 

MAY 2 

FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host classical musician Ashby Pernell on Friday, May 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

MAY 3 

FARMERS MARKET — The Kenbridge Farmers Market will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 3. That’ll take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center. 

SPRING FLING – The Town of Kenbridge will hold its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, May 3 at the Kenbridge Recreation Center. That’ll run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with baked goods and treats, as well as spring decorations and other gifts for sale. For more information, call Suzie Austin, Event Coordinator, at 434-676-2452. 

HIGH SCHOOL REUNION – The Victoria High School annual reunion will be held on Saturday, May 3, starting at noon. That’ll take place at Central High School of Lunenburg in Victoria. The price will be $20, payable at the door. Note that the location and price have changed. Also, no advanced reservations are required. Dress is casual. Any questions? HIGH SCHOOL TOURS – The Victoria High School Preservation Foundation will hold tours of Victoria High and the museum collection from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. MAY 4 

SUNDAY WORSHIP – Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold Sunday worship services on Sunday, May 4. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m., with worship at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom will deliver the message.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION – Victoria Church of the Nazarene, located at 1404 6th Street in Victoria, will distribute food on a first come, first serve basis on Sunday, May 4, starting at 12:30 p.m.

MAY 6 

REPUBLICAN MEETING – The Lunenburg County Republican Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 6. That will take place at La Victoria Mexican Restaurant, located at 1812 Main Street in Victoria. That will begin with a social at 6 p.m. and a business meeting at 6:30 p.m. 

MAY 8 

SUPERVISORS MEETING – The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors will hold its regular meeting on Thursday, May 8, starting at 6 p.m. The group will hold a public hearing on amending the county’s solar ordinance and go over the proposed changes to the secondary roads six-year plan. The meeting will be held in the second floor courtroom of the Lunenburg Courts building. 

MAY 10

FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host local country musician Nick Byrd on Saturday, May 10, beginning at 7 p.m.

MAY 16 

MUSIC IN THE PARK – Music in the Park is back in Victoria for another season. The next edition of the concert series will take place on Friday, May 16, featuring Gary Wayne and the Twisted Rails. That’ll run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Railroad Park, with food truck A Taste of Texas. The event is free, but food must be purchased. 

FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host Christian contemporary group the Harris Music Ministry on Friday, May 16, beginning at 7 p.m.

MAY 18 

THEATRE AUDITIONS – The Southside Area Community Theatre will hold auditions for ‘Annie’ at the Kenbridge Town Hall on Sunday, May 18, starting at 2:30 p.m. Town hall is located at 511 E. 5th Avenue in Kenbridge and all auditioners must be prepared to sing. If not auditioning for a lead role, you must bring your own karaoke track. Those auditioning for a lead role will have songs specific to the character chosen for them. 

TOWN COUNCIL – The Kenbridge Town Council will meet on Tuesday, May 20, starting at 7 p.m. This will be the group’s regular monthly meeting and will be held at Town Hall, located at 511 E. 5th Avenue in Kenbridge. 

MAY 20

MUSIC IN THE PARK – Music in the Park is back in Victoria for another season. The next edition of the concert series will take place on Friday, June 20, featuring musician Chap Cash. That’ll run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Railroad Park, with food truck Amish Traditions on hand. The event is free, but food must be purchased.
