HURRICANE DISASTER DONATIONS NEEDED. A trailer will be parked in front of Captain’s Choice Restaurant, 513 Main St., Kenbridge and will be loaded at 9 a.m. Needed supplies consist of water, canned foods, baby pampers, flash lights, batteries, bedding, cleaning supplies and work gloves.

BOSTON BUTT SALE, to benefit VFW Post 9954. Butts are to be picked up between 3:30-4 p.m. and have to be pre-ordered by calling (434) 321-3325.

OCTOBER 1

WOMEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Rosebud Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Anna B. Wilson, associate pastor of Little Mount Baptist Church, will be the guest proclaimer. Women are asked to wear white. Rev. Waverly E. Brown, Sr. is the pastor.

OCTOBER SERMON SERIES, 9:30 a.m. each Sunday in October, at Victoria Evangelical Presbyterian Church to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, 5017 to 2017, beginning with the celebration of World Communion Sunday. The church is located between the Victoria Restaurant and the Baptist Church on 8th St., Victoria.

BUILDING FUND BENEFIT PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Gill Hill Baptist Church called the Hurt, Oliver, Lee and Eggleston. The speaker will be the Rev. James Taylor, of the Jericho Baptist Church. His choir will accompany him. Everyone is welcome.

SUNDAY SCHOOL DAY, 3 p.m. of the Sunday School Ministry of New Grove Baptist Church with a musical program. Featured will be New Bethel Men Chorus, Calvary Sr. Choir Ministry, Voices of Zion and the Rev. Marvin Harris and Inner Peace.

SONS OF LIGHTENING REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at Pleasant Oak Baptist Church. Wednesday, Mt. Zion Baptist, Thursday, Second Union Baptist and Friday, Mossing Grove Baptist.

FALL COMMUNITY YARD SALE, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., 8428 Plank Road, at McCoys Store. Open to the community and local food vendors are welcome. Contact Charlene at (434) 676-1473 by Sunday to reserve space.

OPPORTUNITY FUND SKEET CLASSIC, 8 a.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area. In just two years, 30 $1,000 scholarships have been given to students headed to college or a trade/technical school whose parents or guardians are served by SEC. The individual registration fee for the skeet shoot is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 50 participants, who must register in advance. Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who’d like to support this event. Sponsor returns include having a squad in the event, banners, signage and recognition in the event program. 110TH CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 Eighth Street. Dr. John Pond will be the guest speaker. The Adult Choir and Reflections of Hope will share in music during the service. Lunch will be served after the service in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.

HARDING FAMILY TURKEY SHOOT, 1 p.m., 1074 Burkeville Road, Victoria. Come have fun and enjoy. Hot chilli and beans.

SENIOR CHOIR MINISTRY ANNIVERSARY 3 p.m. of New Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. L. Reginald Hurt and congregation will conduct the service.
