A house fire on Dusty Road in Kenbridge resulted in the total loss of the home Monday.

Kenbridge Fire Department Chief Richard Harris cited that the department received a report at approximately 7 p.m. of a house fire on Dusty Lane off of Laurel Branch Road in Kenbridge.

“Burned it completely up,” Harris said regarding the condition of the house. “It was on the ground when we got there. It had been burning for a while; nobody was at home. It was a complete loss when we got there.” Harris said the cause of the fire was “undetermined, but possibly a wood stove.”

“We offered to help,” Harris said, speaking about the department offering assistance to the occupant.

Harris noted that the homeowner, Johnny Long, had made arrangements for the occupant, Robert Graves, to stay somewhere else.
