A dog bite incident that resulted in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) being summoned took place Sunday afternoon, the Lunenburg Animal Control Officer and Victoria Town Manager confirmed.
Animal Control Officer D. Ray Elliott said the office’s records indicate the incident was reported in the area of 10th Street in Victoria at approximately 4 p.m.
Elliott said the incident, and whether one or multiple animals may have been involved, is under investigation.
Victoria Town Manager Rodney Newton said EMS was called to that address, but could not confirm the condition of the victim. Newton added that the town has a leash law that would require dogs to be contained under the control of their owners at all times.
He said laws or provisions regarding animal bites fall under health department regulations.
Newton said actions or penalties in response to violations of laws concerning animals are covered by the Lunenburg Animal Control Office.
The type of dog or dogs, or information of potential owners could not be confirmed by Newton or Elliott.
