Justin Lamar Holliday, a 24-year-old Victoria resident, was sentenced to six years in prison with all suspended except 45 days in jail recently in Lunenburg Circuit Court, pleading guilty to two felony counts of distribution of marijuana.

The suspended portion of his sentence will be subject to numerous conditions.

According to Lunenburg County Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, the local narcotics task force, under the direction of Lunenburg County Deputy Sheriff Brian Burns, worked an undercover operation on Jan. 14, 2013 and Feb. 6, 2013, and purchased $240 worth of marijuana from Holliday.

The task force waited until the other operations at that time were completed over a period of a year and until other issues could be resolved before Holliday was indicted on April 7, 2014.

He was not located for arrest until Oct. 6.

The active sentence is within the recommendation of the sentencing guidelines for a first-time offender for this crime, said Clement.

Holliday had no prior criminal record.

His additional five years and 10 and a half months are suspended upon conditions of good behavior, supervised probation upon his release for one year, warrantless searches and seizures, counseling and restitution of $380.

Holliday is allowed to report to jail on Jan. 2, and may serve his sentence on work release, if eligible, and if approved by Piedmont Regional Jail.
