The Lunenburg Animal Shelter will only pick up animals under emergency circumstances until the floor of the shelter has been resurfaced, Animal Control Officer D. Ray Elliott said Monday.
Elliot said the work on the flooring would apply beginning Wednesday, and lasting until April 27.
“We’re not going to pick up any animals unless (there are) special circumstances, emergency calls only,” Elliott said.
“We’ve talked to people that are going to assist us with our animals,” Elliott said.
He noted that animals picked up under emergency circumstances will be brought to organizations who are working with the shelter. Elliott said he could not disclose the names of the organizations.
He said the flooring would receive a new coating of epoxy paint, as a requirement to operate and maintain the shelter.
For additional questions, Elliott can be reached at (434) 917-9065.
