Our beloved sister, Mary Joyce Hill, age 68, from Halifax, Va. formerly of Victoria, passed away very peaceful on May 5, 2018, from her battle with cancer. She fought a hard battle, but one that she couldn’t change. She is certainly going to be missed by her dear family and many friends, both here and in Halifax.

It was her choice to be cremated without a formal funeral. The family will have a private service at a later date.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Rosalie Scruggs, sister Jane Davis, her husband David H. “Curley” Hill, and her Fiance’, Larry Jenkins. She leaves to cherish her memory (4) sisters, Jereline (Jerrie) Clarke, Areline Hazlewood, Juanita Estep and Julia Jeter, (4) brothers- Jerry Wade Scruggs, Larry William Scruggs (Jackie), Henry Ronald Scruggs (Joy) and Bernard Wayne “Bunny” Scruggs, (Becky), several nieces, nephews and cousins., which include two very special, devoted nieces -Lisa Brugos and Karen Newcomb.

Joyce was a retired employee of The Halifax County Schools.

Farrar Funeral Home, South Hill, VA is handling the cremation arrangements.
