Inclement weather has delayed progress for Central High School’s varsity baseball and soccer teams in their respective Region 1B tournaments, and it could do the same for Central’s varsity softball team.
Central’s No. 2-seeded baseball squad held a 1-0 lead over visiting No. 7 Cumberland through 2.5 innings before the first-round game was halted due to rain Monday. The contest was tentatively set to resume Tuesday.
In boys soccer, No. 5 Central was to play host No. 4 Appomattox Regional Governor’s School on Monday at 1 p.m., but the quarterfinal game was moved to Tuesday at 6 p.m.
In softball, No. 1 Central will host No. 4 Riverheads on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals, weather permitting.
