A 23-year-old from Lunenburg County was sentenced to one year and five months in prison for a felony charge of distribution.

Lennie Edward Coles, Jr. was sentenced to an active sentence of one year and five months in prison recently in Lunenburg Circuit Court upon pleading guilty to one felony of distribution, a release from the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office cited.

Coles had an additional eight years and seven months suspended upon numerous conditions.

“This new conviction may lead to revocation of suspended time in Nottoway Circuit Court where he has suspended time over his head for a felony grand larceny conviction in 2015 and in Colonial Heights for a felony larceny conviction in 2015 as well,” the release cited.

“According to Commonwealth’s Attorney, the local narcotics task force, under the direction of Lunenburg County Deputy Sheriff Christopher Wallace, worked an undercover operation on Oct. 13, 2016 and purchased $100 in cocaine from Coles,” the release cited. “The task force waited until other operations at that time were completed and until other issues could be completed before Coles was indicted on Dec. 4, 2017.”

The additional suspended portion of Coles’ sentence is subject to conditions based on “good behavior, supervised probation upon his release for one year, warrantless searches and seizures, and restitution of $100.”

Coles is set report to jail June 29.
