The Town of Victoria will have a new tradition beginning Friday, where people can pull up lawn chairs or blankets and listen to live music at Victoria Railroad Park.
The inaugural live music series, Music at the Park, will start at 6 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m.
“This is a new event this year for the Town of Victoria,” Town Clerk Vickie McDaniel said.
The events will take place once a month from June until August, though McDaniel said there could be an event scheduled for September.
The first vocal group, McDaniel said, will be Mike Godwin and the Off-Duty Band.
The band, based in Nottoway County, plays country and old-time rock n’ roll music.
“We will have food available and drinks,” McDaniel said. “Everyone is welcome and asked to bring a chair for a relaxing evening of music, food and fun.”
McDaniel said the next Music at the Park event is set to take place July 20. She said the group, “Uncorked,” is expected to perform. The group, according to its Facebook page, plays everything from soul, to country, to blues, to southern rock and top 40s songs.
McDaniel said more information about the July Music at the Park will be available closer to the event.
