Outage report, road conditions for region

Outages are continuing to be addressed in the region Monday, as Dominion Energy and Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) report outages in Lunenburg County.
Dominion is reporting 36 outages in Lunenburg.
“The heavy snow weighed down on tree limbs, causing them to lean or break onto our overhead lines,” Dominion officials said in a notice on the outage map site. “This caused widespread power outages. Dominion Energy had prepared for this weather event and had crews ready and on standby to respond to restore services as quickly and as safely as possible.”
“Before we can establish an estimated time of repair, we need to assess all damages,” officials continued. “Travel to these locations will be hampered by the icy road conditions.”
SEC is reporting approximately 998 outages in Lunenburg.
As of 10:35 a.m. Monday, SEC officials reported approximately 6,880 members without power.
“The majority of these outages are the result of pine trees weighted down by snow, damaging power lines and infrastructure,” officials said. “All available SEC personnel, as well as 29 mutual aid crews, will continue work as safely as possible until all members are restored.”
SEC officials reminded residents to never touch or try to move a downed power line, instead waiting for crews to arrive to address the situation.
Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) road conditions table is showing icy patches for its primary roadways, such as VA-40, VA-137 and VA-138.
However, all bridges and secondary roads for all counties have been classified as having moderate road conditions with snow or ice present.
