Christy Diane Cousins was born on October 11, 1971 in Danville, Virginia, to Joan L. Lee Cousins and Rhoecus L. Cousins. She was the youngest of five children. She was educated in Lunenburg County Schools and graduated from Central High School in Victoria, Virginia.

Christy attended Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Virginia and graduated from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Christy began her teaching career in Richmond, Virginia and taught there for several years. Christy also taught in Henderson, North Carolina for a short time until illness prevented her from working.

Christy professed her life to Christ at a young age at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Victoria, Virginia. She loved attending church and spending time with family and friends.

Christy Diane Cousins departed this life on Friday evening March 15, 2019 at Envoy at the Meadows Nursing Home in Goochland, Virginia. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Christy’s father Rhoecus L. Cousins, Sr.; sister Carla Cousins Waller and her brother Rhoecus Cousins, Jr. preceded her in death.

Christy leaves to cherish her memory her mother Joan L. Cousins of Victoria, Virginia; sister, Kathy Cousins-Cooper (Hector) of Whitsett, North Carolina; and brother, Ricky D. Cousins of Victoria, Virginia; aunts, Angeline Mitchell (Mike) and Althea Cousins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; nephews, Alex Waller of Charlottesville, Virginia and Cameron and Kyle Cooper of Whitsett, North Carolina; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday March 23, 2019 11 a.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 404 Kings Road, Victoria, Virginia with the Rev. Wendell Brown, Pastor.

Interment was in Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Victoria, Virginia.
