With the end of the school year and summer approaching, there’s likely no end of important days and information to remember in the months ahead.
However, these dates may be important to mark on one’s calendars, particularly as they relate to the future of state and local government.
Lunenburg County Registrar Carolyn Parsons included some important dates for Lunenburg residents to remember for the primary election next month and the general election in November.
The Republican Party District 15 Senate seat is up for election on Tuesday, June 11.
For those registering to vote, or who may need to make changes if they’ve moved, the last day to register to vote for the primary, or receive an application to register by mail is Monday, May 20.
Tuesday, June 4, is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail. Saturday, June 8, is the last day for in-person absentee voting.
Incumbent state senator Frank M. Ruff Jr. and candidate Dale L. Sturdifen are running for election for the Republican Party District 15 Senate seat. Voters can go to the same precinct locations they went to during the November 2018 election. To find the voting locations of each precinct, see the article in today’s issue of The Dispatch.
It’s also important to look out for the November election, taking place Nov. 5.
The Board of Supervisors seats up for election include the Brown’s Store District, Rehoboth District, Love’s Mill District and Hound’s Creek District.
The Brown’s Store District, Rehoboth District, Love’s Mill District and Hound’s Creek District school board seats will also be up for election.
Constitutional officers including the sheriff, treasurer, commissioner of the revenue and commonwealth’s attorney are up for election.
For those interested in running for local office, the last day to file to run for the November election is Tuesday, June 11.
As there are multiple local government seats and state seats up for election, it may be important to keep these dates close at hand. Your voice, and your vote, are important.
