A Keysville area man will serve time in prison for dealing methamphetamines across Lunenburg and Charlotte counties following an investigation by the Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force.
According to a release from Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney of Lunenburg County Baxter Stegall, Robert Earl Dix Jr. was recently convicted of two counts of distribution of methamphetamine. Dix pled guilty to the two counts before Lunenburg Circuit Court Judge J.W. Watson Jr.
The investigation focused on activities in March and April of 2019, at which time agents from the task force purchased methamphetamine from Dix in both Lunenburg and Charlotte counties. He was indicted for the Lunenburg charges in October of last year.
Dix was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 18-and-a-half years suspended, for an active sentence of a year and a half. The release added this time is in addition to a one year and two months active sentence Dix received in Charlotte County. Dix had no prior history of dealing drugs before this investigation.
The Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force is made up of agents from Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office, Charlotte Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.
Dix’s convictions carry certain conditions, such as being of good behavior for 20 years, agreeing to relinquish his right against searches and seizures, notifying certain agencies of any change in address, not being in proximity of firearms and paying restitution to the Virginia State Police.
