C.A.T.S. auditions to be held in South Hill
Published 9:43 am Wednesday, March 9, 2016
Auditions for the C.A.T.S. Community Theatre Production of Steel Magnolias are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, and Thursday, March 24.
Participants are asked to use the actors entrance at the rear of the theatre complex, at 220 S. Mecklenburg Ave., upon arrival and should attend only one of the two audition sessions.
Dr. Cathy Palmer will be directing Steel Magnolias, and the production is sponsored by Glenn E. Barbour, P.C. and Watkins Hearing Aids Center. The casting of this production calls for six women between the ages of 18-70. All roles are available; the ages of characters can be adjusted slightly if necessary.
The audition process will include a cold reading from the script. Southern accents are necessary for each of the characters. Please bring a photo of yourself to give to the director. This will help with putting names and faces together during the casting process. This photo can be a snapshot, printed on standard paper, and does not need to be a professional or theatrical headshot.
Rehearsals for the play will generally run on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and on some Sunday afternoons. It is extremely important that actors are available at these times.
Performance dates are as follows: May 14, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. on May 15 and 22. Please check your availability for performance dates prior to auditioning.
