A solar development project for Lunenburg County has ended — for now.
On Thursday, Jan. 13, County Attorney Frank Rennie informed the Board of Supervisors (BOS) that developers of Red Brick Solar have “placed things on hold.”
“All the additional costs that have come up have affected this project,” Rennie said. “At some point, they (developers) will get back to us.”
Apex Clean Energy of Charlottesville and SolUnesco of Reston, the developers of the 130 MW facility, have been waiting over a year and negotiating with county officials to have their Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Red Brick Solar approved.
The project would place a solar photovoltaic power plant across 935 both The University of Virginia and Virginia Tech announced that they would no longer require employees to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
